The practices of these two mandalas—Tukdrup Barché Künsel (Guru’s Heart Practice: Dispeller of all Obstacles) and Tukdrup Sampa Lhündrup (Spontaneous Fulfiller of All Wishes) will eliminate the practitioner’s outer, inner and secret obstacles, fulfill all aspirations, and the accomplishment of the two accumulations.
Guru Rinpoche taught that amongst all of his one million Heart Practices, the supreme is Tukdrup Barché Künsel. There are a few versions of Tukdrup Barché Künsel – one that was requested by King Trisong Deutsen, another requested by Yeshe Tsogyal and one requested by Prince Yeshe Rolpa Tsal. The largest collection is the version that was requested by Prince Yeshe Rolpa Tsal. Moreover, this practice cycle is considered especially auspicious as Chokgyur Lingpa revealed this treasure teaching without any obstacles, kept it secret for seven to eight years and practiced it himself over three years manifesting all the signs of accomplishment. It is said that this practice is like a royal treasury, able to fulfill all needs.
Sampa Lhündrup is a special manifestation of Guru Rinpoche, in which the Guru appears in a standing posture—ready to act—surrounded by his thirteen emanations. In this form the Guru grants the practitioners protection from all calamities. He guards us against conflict, disease, poverty, obstacle-makers, vicious animals, disturbances of the four natural elements, robbers, sudden death, the intermediate state, clinging to reality, and the sufferings of the six classes of beings.
