Guru Rinpoche advised that, in these times, Vajrayana practitioners should not be separated from the sacred substances of Vajrayana tantra.
He elaborated that these substances include: (1) Guru Rinpoche's lotus crown, (2) the vajra and bell, (3) the damaru, (4) the khatvanga, (5) the curved knife, symbolizing the dakinis, and (6) the kapala (skullcup) with blessing pills.
Additionally, the symbols of the five Buddha families are essential: (1) the dharma wheel for the Buddha family, (2) the vajra for the Vajra family, (3) the lotus for the Lotus family, (4) the blazing jewel for the Jewel family, and (5) the double vajra for the Karma family. Guru Rinpoche's seal represents the Vajra family, as the vajra is at the center of the seal.
At the bottom are the three syllables: (1) HUM, representing the heart essence of Mahakala, (2) AM, the heart essence of Mahadeva, and (3) BYO, the heart essence of all female protectors, the Mahakalis.
Guru Rinpoche emphasized that practitioners must have these symbols, especially during tantric feast offerings, where these symbols should be placed within the mandala or beside the practitioner.
