Wish-Fulfilling Tree

This Wish-Fulfilling Tree was specially designed by Kyabgön Phakchok Rinpoche and hand-made in Nepal, in order to bring together the many different elements needed to fulfill our wishes.

The eight auspicious symbols are well known in Buddhism for their capacity to bring luck and fortune. Each symbol has a special meaning :

  1. Parasol (chattra): symbolises the activity of protecting beings from illness, harmful forces, obstacles and so forth in this life, the enjoyment of a feast of benefit under its cool shade, royalty and spiritual power.
  2. Golden Fish (suvarnamatsya): symbolises the auspiciousness of all living beings in a state of fearlessness, just as fish swim freely without fear through water. They also symbolises good fortune, fertility and salvation.
  3. Treasure Vase (kalasha): symbolises an endless rain of long life, wealth and prosperity and all spiritual and material abundance.
  4. Lotus (padma): symbolises the complete purification of the defilements of the body, speech and mind, and the full blossoming of wholesome deeds.
  5. Conch Shell (sankha): symbolises the far-reaching and melodious sound of the Dharma teachings, which awakens beings from ignorance and urges them to accomplish their own and others' welfare.
  6. Endless Knot (shrivasta): symbolises the mutual dependence of religious doctrine and secular affairs. It also symbolises the union of wisdom and method, the inseparability of emptiness and dependent arising and the union of wisdom and great compassion.
  7. Victory Banner (dhvaja): symbolises the victory of the activities of one's own and others body, speech and mind over obstacles and negativities. It also symbolises the complete victory of the Buddhist Doctrine over all harmful forces and ignorance.
  8. Wheel (dharmachakra): symbolises the auspiciousness of the turning of the precious wheel of Buddha's doctrine, both in its teachings and realizations, in all realms and at all times, enabling beings to experience the joy of wholesome deeds and liberation.

Besides these eight symbols, letters of dakini script are also found on the tree. These unique symbols bring different blessings such as majesty, wealth and luck. In addition, the symbols of the sun and moon represent auspiciousness radiating both day and night.
